Food fights colds and flu

Dr Kathy McManus, director of nutrition at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, explained: “certain foods are rich in nutrients and can promote health. Here, science proves that there are five kinds of food that can help eliminate these colds and flu viruses.
Whole grains
They carry zinc, which is critical to maintaining a healthy immune system. Try tomato sauce or brown rice and whole-wheat pasta.
They contain vitamin B6, which helps your body fight infection. Eat whole grain bananas and double your bactericidal power.
The active ingredient in spices, capsaicin, reduces the obstruction of the nasal mucus and allows you to breathe freely again. Sprinkle some soup or a bean roll.
Sweet potato
They are one of the best sources of beta-carotene, A form of vitamin A, and your body needs to make enough white blood cells to fight off infections. Eat them to be pounded or roasted.
Garlic is one of the active ingredients in fresh garlic, which kills the virus by blocking the enzyme that causes it. Use in Caesar salad, garlic sauce or guacamole.
